SOUTH DAKOTA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF (SDSD)
POSITION: Speech Language / Instructional Assistant (9-month, full-time
position to begin August 11, 2008)
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with
experience and/or education in special education or communication disorders.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
conduct speech-language screenings without interpretation (excluding feeding/swallowing
disorders)
follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising
SLP
document student/patient progress toward meeting goals as stated in treatment
plan and report this information to the supervising SLP
assist SLP during assessments of students/clients who are difficult to test
assist with informal documentation (tallying, preparing charts) as directed
by SLP
assist with clerical duties (preparing materials, scheduling activities,
etc.)
perform checks and maintenance of equipment
support SLP in research projects, in-service training and public relations
programs
collect data for quality improvement
exhibit compliance with regulations, reimbursement requirements, etc.
assist with departmental operations (scheduling, record keeping, maintenance
of supplies)
SALARY: This position begins at $22,000
